Glen Bernard has a kilometer of shoreline along the east side of Lake Bernard which is ideal for our many water activities!
Every camper needs swim and lifesaving skills in order to get the most enjoyment from water based activities in the safest way possible. Campers have a swim class almost every day and instruction is based on programs of the Lifesaving Society and other recognized level achievements.
Nothing can match the thrill of skillfully capturing the wind and feeling the spray of water on our faces. The sailing program provides an opportunity for both the beginner and advanced sailor to improve her skills. Races are held for friendly competition in GBC fleet which includes Lasers, Hobie Waves, Bytes, Picos and a number of sailboards in a variety of sizes.
The art of canoeing, which is so much a part of our Canadian heritage, takes us places we can not reach by any other means. Kayaking is also a popular sport at Glen Bernard.
Experienced, qualified staff plan canoe trips, varying from 3 to 7 days in length, for those who have chosen to participate. Younger campers participate in an overnight on Lake Bernard at sites owned by GBC at various locations around the lake.
GBC has many water toys; paddle around the bay in a pedal boat, walk on water with a step jet, or play with friends in inner tubes! Swimming out to one of the floating docks is a great way to cool off on a hot day! There are endless water possibilites!
