NEWS BULLETIN FOR EDUCATORS
An opportunity to complete the components of the new environmental education curriculum

Glen Bernard’s new addition in 2009 is the Living Lightly Lab, an environmental education centre designed to teach young people about renewable energy, environmental sustainability and stewardship.

The Living Lightly Lab features learning stations with games, information and scientific experiments that emphasize the environmental impacts of sustainable technology.   Students can interact with solar electric panels, roof gardens, solar hot water heaters, roofing materials and daylighting features.

GBC now offers curriculum specific programs for students in grades 6-12 which cover each unit of the new environmental education curriculum.

What better place to learn about the natural world and our impact upon it than right in the outdoors?  Students can see, touch and test new technologies and age old solutions which contribute to an environmentally sustainable future.

Come learn how a Living Lightly Lab program can enrich your student’s academic year by joining our Educators Open House.  GBC will host two days of Living Lightly Lab tours for educators to experience the benefits of a sustainable classroom program.

Dates:  August 26 or 27 (your choice!)
Time: 11-3
Cost: $25 (including taxes)
Details:  Transportation will be organized free of charge from Toronto, Barrie & Bracebridge if there are sufficient requests.  Bus will leave at 8 a.m. from Toronto and return to Toronto by 6 p.m. each day.  The day includes a tour of the Living Lightly Lab, lunch, and the opportunity to experience part of an environmental education program covering specific aspects of the curriculum.

See details on registration form or call 705-384-7062 for further information.
