Explore a new path, find balance and get in gear. Reconnect with friends at the GBC Women’s Weekend!
All activities are optional: challenge yourself in the high or low ropes course, canoe, enjoy the fall colours on woodland trails, kayak, play a round of tennis, improve your golf swing, nurture your inner artist: crafts, sketching, painting, photography and more!
Participants stay in comfortable camp cabins. Most cabins are equipped with electricity, indoor washroom and shower facilities. Fees include activities, accommodation, and all meals and snacks.
Weekend Program Specialists:
Valerie Wint has taught Hatha yoga since 1999. She is a certified Ananda Yogatm teacher and has also trained with teachers from other traditions. Valerie is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance (USA) and is certified through the Federation of Ontario Yoga Teachers.
Barb Gormley is the owner of Toronto-based CustomFit Personal Training. She leads the 350 member First Canadian Place Walking Club, is the head walking coach for JeansMarines and is the Ontario Master Trainer for Nordic Walking company Urban Poling.
Nordic Walking is a fun new sport that uses walking poles to help propel you forward. It burns more calories than walking, exercises your core (abdominals) and upper body, and takes stress off your joints. It is ideal for all ages and fitness levels.
Mary Addison, RN, MSW, CSW is the Clinical Program Specialist in the Program for Midlife Women and Older Women at Women’s College Hospital. She is also a visual artist who enjoys using a variety of techniques to express and experiment with texture and colour. Mary will be using pastels and acrylics as the media to discover new ways to see your world. The key word is to come and JUST ENJOY the experience.
Instructional sessions with Valerie Wint, Barb Gormley and Mary Addison are included in the weekend program.
